25 anos do colapaso Palace II: o que é mito, o que é verdade?

Foi utilizado areia do mar?

Em 22 de fevereiro de 1998, desabava o edifício Palace II, que resultou na morte de oito pessoas.

A versão popular sobre o desabamento da edificação, é de que teria sido usada areia de praia na produção do concreto estrutural do prédio, o que é mito.

Mas o que foi então?

O real motivo é que:

31 dos 42 pilares foram executados segundo um projeto com falhas e subdimensionados,

Em vez de suportarem 480 toneladas cada um, estavam calculados para no máximo 230 toneladas.

Resultado: Os pilares não suportaram a edificação de 23 andares, que acabou desabando.

Ouvi na faculdade que o projeto teria sido erroneamente interpretado na execução, de forma que os pilares que deveriam ter sido localizados de frente para o lado do mar, foram fixados de frente para a AV. das Américas. Verdade isso?
